In of January of 2020 over 60 of our students performed as part of the professional cast of the UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Under the guidance of the Joseph creative team, our students spent time learning choreography from the show, in addition to the melodies and lyrics of the hit musical. 60 of our students rehearsed tirelessly for over 8 weeks where they learnt how to work as a company and experienced a professional rehearsal room. Students were also challenged with harmonies and complex dance routines, which they worked incredibly hard to master.

When the show opened in January our cast performed nightly for 1 week at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre alongside professional performers such as Mark McMullan, who played Joseph. Many of the students had the chance to chat with these professionals about a career in the arts and gain some valuable insights into the industry. The cast spent time working with the Musical Director and Assistant Choreographer, who also imparted a wealth of knowledge on out students.
“Performing in Joseph was a great experience; it was so good to see the professionals in action and learn from all their skills.” – Rosie Gothard
Throughout this experience the students were able to learn fundamental stage skills, such as Theatre Etiquette and professionalism. This allowed our students to further develop their in-class training and supported them in their journey to professional colleges and auditions. We know it was an experience they will never forget!
For many this was their first professional production, however, some of the cast have previously worked professionally on shows such as ‘School of Rock’ (Gillian Lynne Theatre), ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ (MK Theatre) and ‘Kinky Boots’ (Adelphi Theatre). This was just one of the many opportunities we endeavour to provide for our students.
