Our Classes
Twinkle Toes Ballet
In this introduction to Ballet for our littlest learners, your tiny dancer’s dreams of becoming a beautiful ballerina or a handsome prince come to life. We take them on a magical 30-minute journey each week, teaching them basic ballet steps in a fun, make-believe world.
From the first plie to their final curtain call on stage, your little one will come to appreciate the great joy that comes from dancing –and this is their first step into that wonderful world.
Musical Mites
This class is a fantastic first taste of Musical Theatre, and introduces little ones to performing in a gentle and engaging way, with an emphasis on fun from start to finish. It’s a bopping, dressy, dancy session, perfect for wannabe performers.
Our teaching style prompts the early development of self-respect, self-confidence and positive self-image, and helps the children become comfortable interacting with others of their own age.
Tippy Toes Tap
Your child’s Tap journey begins here: a light-hearted class which explores the basic steps of Tap as a simple introduction to the genre. There are weekly rewards and lots of encouragement, with fun songs to help them remember their little Tap steps and develop their confidence.
Tots Groovers Funky Dance
(Modern and Street Dance Basics)
This high-energy class will be the highlight of your child’s week at PWA! These kids show off to popular, age appropriate tunes and express themselves in a fun-filled and encouraging environment that makes our dancers forget they’re learning. They will be jigging and a-bobbing to popular sounds, and taking part in a great little workout to use up all that excess energy. All of this activity also gives them the basics of rhythm and movement –an essential foundation for Modern and Street dancing.
Super Sparklers Ballet
This is a preparatory class for our little ballerinas, and introduces the basic arm and feet movements needed for Ballet in a fun and creative way. The students work towards their first level of ISTD Ballet examination, which the teacher will enter with them.
Little Musical Monsters
This class teaches the fundamentals of dance, singing and acting on the stage. Classes are taught in a fun and supportive environment, so don’t worry if your child feels a bit nervous. Most of the time they will be performing in a group, although if they do want to leap into the spotlight there’s the opportunity for some solos too!
Our style of teaching also prompts the early development of self-respect, self-confidence and positive self-image, while at the same time developing discipline, team skills and comfortable interaction with others of their own age.
Dapper Tappers
In this creative Tap class, your little tapper will begin to work on single Tap sounds and learn the correct posture for a Tap dancer. We begin to build a secure Tap technique through simple steps beginningwith single beats, and develop an awareness of tone from the very first class. We also let you know about the perfect songs they can use to practise at home until their taps have worn away.
Little Groovers Funky Dance
(Modern and Street Dance Basics)
In this beginners’ class we create a fun and encouraging learning environment, in which we teach the basic understanding of Modern dance technique. These little dancers bop, skip, and jig to modern sounds, ensuring that we build their co-ordination, and develop their own style and confidence by introducing them to basic dance moves.
1st Position Ballet
Building on the foundations of an early education in Ballet, this class is aimed at students who can learn a good technique and can combine it with musicality. Students are entered for their first ISTD Ballet examination as part of this class.
Modern Meddlers Dance
In this beginner’s primary Modern dance class we create a fun and encouraging learning environment, in which we teach the basic understanding of Modern dance technique. We aim to build the children’s co-ordination, but also to develop their own style and confidence by introducing them to basic dance movement.
Hurricane Tappers
Hurricane Tappers will teach your child to develop single Tap sounds into small routines, as well as the correct posture for a little wannabe Tap dancer.
Hip Hop – Street Bopping
These kids show off to popular, age appropriate tunes and express themselves in a fun-filled and encouraging environment that makes our dancers forget they’re learning. This prepares them for the more complex movements and steps that the next stagesof Modern and Street Dance demand, as well as building their muscle and cardio-vascular fitness.
Little Stars Musical Theatre
In these classes we slowly begin introducing the specialties of dancing, singing, acting and performance more specifically. The children begin to forge closer friendships by working towards mini performances, in the form of role play in groups, which also helps them to develop social awareness skills.
Ballet
This class starts at the barre and develops the basic core skills of Ballet. It focuses on turnout, as well as making the students aware of the perfect posture, use of port de bras and the beginnings of allegro.
Modern Dance
This Modern Grade 1 elementary class begins to work more on the child’s core strength and suppleness in exercises. We also start the basics of jumps and turns, and the vital role of arm and leg placements within them. As their confidence begins to grow, we promote and encourage individual development in solo and performance work within the grade.
Hip Hop
This high-energy class includes popular tunes and lets the children express themselves in a fun-filled and encouraging environment. Hip hop class adds a cardiovascular element to your child’s dance that emphasizes rhythm, musicality, and dynamics.
It’s all about creating well-rounded and diverse dancers, so this class is a transition class to our more technical dance classes in Modern, Jazz, Ballet and Tap. There is a maximum of 15 students in this class.
Acting
The acting classes cover group exercises, games, improvisation, a common approach to technique, understanding and developing relevant characters, and rehearsing pieces in class, plus refining technical skills and artistry and developing better communication skills.
Tap
Torpedo Tappers teaches students to develop single Tap sounds into small routines, whilst also teaching the correct posture for a Tap dancer. Through simple steps beginning with single beats, we build a secure tap technique, and work towards their first graded ISTD Tap examination with their teacher guiding them through the experience.
Flexibility Dance
Modern dance class is a cross between ballet and jazz. We teach the basic understanding of modern dance technique. This will build the children’s co-ordination and develop their style and confidence.These classes include floor work, corner work, rhythm and solo dances.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre introduces more specific specialties of dancing, singing, acting and performance, whilst still keeping the fun of learning performance skills! Teaching is directed towards introducing and building more technical skills in the three professions, plus developing the voice, improvisation, and projection.
Film & TV Acting
This class teaches modern on-camera acting techniques, where students will learn the foundations of acting training. This class is an introduction to acting for camera versus acting on stage, learning to create characters, work with other actors, and finding out about the director’s use of voice and body.
LAMDA Acting Examination
Preparing for this exam unlocks imagination and creative thinking, refines technical skills in acting, and develops communication skills. Direct benefits are that this discipline nurtures an appreciation of literature, poetry, drama and song, whilst supporting creative, intellectual and social development.
Ballet
These classes develop challenging balletic steps and the syllabus incorporates batterie and allegro combinations. There is more free work given to all students to develop their knowledge of ballet terms and steps and this is the beginning of advanced technique.
Modern Dance
Our Modern dance classes are tailored for a dancer that understands the technical expectations of Modern, and will help the student become the best dancer they can possibly be. Limbering and stretching will become a daily routine to ensure they have the correct execution of the syllabus.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre introduces more specific specialties of dancing, singing, acting and performance, whilst still keeping the fun of learning performance skills! Teaching is directed towards introducing and building more technical skills in the three profession, as well as working on developing the voice, improvisation, and projection.

It is essential for dancers that they maximise their flexibility and suppleness. Many dancers fail to advance to the next stage because they have not trained sufficiently in this area.
This flexibility class has many benefits: it can improve your performance in dance classes, boost your fitness and transform your lifestyle and overall wellbeing. Led by our specialists, these classes also help strengthen your core, strengthen your muscles and give you more freedom of movement.

Audition Technique Class
These classes will concentrate the student on learning proven techniques which will enable them to audition for the top Performing Arts Colleges in the UK and USA. Working from solid foundation work in dance, acting and singing, these students will take a clear and structured path to enable natural strengths to flourish and be showcased in an audition.
